A Cinematic Wedding at The Park Chateau Estate & Gardens

Greg & Rachel met at Rutgers while he was in law school and she was getting her PhD. Six years later, he popped the big question. As we got to know them in preparation for their big day, we learned probably one of the cutest couple stories we’ve ever heard. When Greg first told Rachel he loved her, she touched her chest, then his, and then walked away…her version of saying it back. 

The Park Chateau suited Rachel & Greg’s day perfectly. Rachel, who is also a dancer, brought the energy with her modern sense of style and fun moves on and off the dance floor (see the photos below!) And Greg’s moody groomsmen portraits in the club rooms are some of our very favorites.

Getting Ready Photos at The Park Chateau

Often the getting ready section of a wedding can feel like an afterthought. Preparing to tie the knot and look your best alongside your closest family and friends is an undeniably special time, but sometimes those moments get cramped into hurried turns in front of a mirror or shoving personal items around to capture photos in the one “nice-looking” spot in the room. Not at the Park Chateau. 

Luxe details fill every room, not only creating space for these intimate moments to breathe, but also making for some darn good photos.  The candle sconces, dark walls and molding, and sweeping curtains are a photographer’s dream. 

Capturing the relaxation on Rachel’s face as she stretched out on an elegant chaise lounge for a massage from one of her gal pals…immortalizing Greg’s laughter lit up by a glowing window as the darkness framed his suit — these are the kind of emotion-meets-artistry moments Nick and I live for.

First Look Photos at The Park Chateau

Rachel & Greg’s wedding was a fusion of old-school and modern. As Rachel swept down the grand staircase at the Park Chateau for a first look with her dad under a gorgeous chandelier, she wore this chic, very today-feeling wedding gown with fun cutout details. And everything just meshed *so* beautifully. The Park Chateau, with its timeless materials, elegant lines and fresh, clean light, lends itself so incredibly well to blending old and new.

Wedding Ceremony & Private Vow Photos

The cinematic mood of the day continued as Rachel and Greg met at the onsite chapel for their private wedding vows. There are so many gorgeous estate venues in New Jersey, but the Park Chateau truly stands apart because of this chapel.

Located right across the courtyard from the reception hall, the chapel is a uniquely traditional piece of architecture that immediately transports you back in time. Many brides long for that sacred feeling of marrying in an old chapel or cathedral, but find the convenience of modern all-in-one reception halls just a bit too compelling. At the Park Chateau, you get to have both. 

From the lush greenery filling the windows to the classic shower of white rose petals falling around the newlyweds’ kiss, Rachel and Greg’s ceremony was just all-around *chef’s kiss*. 

Something to note is that this venue has great natural light in the chapel during the day, but when it gets dark in the winter so early, you need to be prepared to light the ceremony.  We always make sure to have a portable light ready to go for the couples’ exit so we can freeze the moment.

Wedding Portraits at The Park Chateau

The Park Chateau really brings the *wow* factor when it comes to portraits. No cheesy, everybody-scrunch-in shots over here — we’re talking full-on sweeping staircases, plushed-out club rooms, and fairytale-level night shots with a starry sky on lock. There’s isn’t an inch of space at this venue that doesn’t feel luxurious.

Nick and I love going all out with photography to match. The perfectly placed off-camera flash, some movement, and a touch of drama…It’s your wedding day so let’s go big! 

We made sure to hit all our favorite photo spots around the property, but then it was time to get Rachel & Greg onto the dance floor…

Wedding Reception Photos at The Park Chateau

As evening fell, Rachel and Greg’s guests filled the soaring reception hall with laughter and a chorus of clinking glasses. Candlelight glimmered on the tables while colorful uplighting cast the room in a wash of color. 

While the ceremony at the traditional-style chapel in the morning was a scene of serenity, the transition to the glittering reception hall perfectly carried through the day’s elegance while injecting it with a modern pump of energy. 

After the speeches and other scheduled events, the reception is all about spontaneity and capturing the unexpected. We like to use a simple, on-the-move lighting system so we can shoot in any room and any part of the room and always have consistent lighting.  It is more than just lighting the dance floor — it is lighting the moment.

Nestled right in East Brunswick, New Jersey, The Park Château Estate & Gardens is a masterclass in grand European elegance—and honestly, a photographer’s absolute playground.

Walking onto the grounds feels less like central Jersey and more like stepping straight into a classic French countryside romance. The venue brings a serious wow factor with its soaring cathedral-esque chapel, manicured gardens, and architecture that screams luxury from every angle. But what we love most is how it bridges that stately grandeur with a deeply moody, swanky indoor vibe. Another great, larger venue we’ve shot at is Perona Farms in Andover. (And you can check out our blog on Kelly & Dan’s boot-stompin’ day there as well!) Perona Farms leans more rustic-elegance than European estate. If you’ve got a pair of cowboy boots you’re dying to dance in, this is your venue. 

The Park Chateau VS. Nanina’s

If your heart is set on a chapel ceremony, one option very similar to The Park Chateau is Nanina’s. Located in Belleville New Jersey, this venue has Tuscan villa-inspired architecture, a  grand ballroom for your reception, gorgeous bridal suites, and options for ceremonies either in their gorgeous gardens outside or in an onsite chapel like The Park Chateau. One cool feature particular to Nanina’s is their groomsmen getting-ready “man cave” complete with a wine cellar, pool table, tvs and kitchenette. Nanina’s is also located right next to Branch Brook Park and has lovely cherry blossoms in the spring.
